Marmaris stretches along the shore of the bay, surrounded by mountains from the dry part. The entrance to the bay protects the island, so storms and strong waves never reach the shore. There is a regular ferry service to the Greek island of Rhodes. It has a typical Mediterranean climate.
The port of Marmaris is an old castle located in the old part of the city and now used as a museum.

Aqua Dream Aqua Park - Marmaris' main water park is located on a small hill in the eastern part of the city.
Marmaris National Park is one of the main attractions.
