It is located in the Talysh mountains, on the northwestern peninsula of the Alborz (Elburz) mountain range, approximately 286 km south of Baku and 76 km southwest of Masalli. In 1963, it received the status of a city-type settlement. Yardimli settlement was granted city status in 2008.

During the Soviet era, it had the status of a city-type settlement, at that time a carpet weaving factory, which is no longer operating, operated in Yardimli. The city has a history museum, a mosque, and a war memorial. During the Soviet period, the city's economy was supported by one of Yardimli's leading enterprises - the carpet factory.

Today, the main field of activity is agriculture. In these parts, small companies of Yardlims are engaged in the cultivation of tea, grapes, various vegetables and fruits. Grain growing and viticulture are also well-developed here. Therefore, more than ninety percent of local production is based on the processing of agricultural products.

The town of Yardimli, cobbled streets, interesting buildings with their architecture, a history museum, a small mosque, and a memorial to those who died in wars.

Although the tourism potential is high, the tourism infrastructure in Yardimli is not so developed.
