DAY2 DAY 2: BAKU – BLACK GOLD & LEGENDS OF THE OLD CITY

From the Oil Boom to Medieval Baku

At 10:00, departure for a fascinating walking tour exploring the history, architecture and legends of Baku.

Our journey begins with the magnificent mansions built during Azerbaijan’s historic oil boom, when Baku rapidly transformed into one of the region’s most prosperous cities.

We will admire the National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature, the elegant Ismailiyya Palace, the historic former Alexandriinsky Muslim Women's School, the romantic Palace of Happiness, and the impressive former City Duma building.

The tour continues through the beautiful Philharmonic Garden, before entering the heart of historic Baku — Icherisheher (Old City).

Step through the ancient streets and experience the fascinating contrast between modern Baku and its medieval heritage.

Discover the iconic Maiden Tower, the magnificent Palace of the Shirvanshahs, historic Multani and Bukhara Caravanserais, ancient mosques, traditional bathhouses and charming narrow streets filled with local craft and souvenir shops.

For cinema enthusiasts, the Old City also offers a special connection with Soviet-era films, including the famous “The Diamond Arm”, which was filmed in Baku.

DAY3 DAY 3: GOBUSTAN – MUD VOLCANOES – ABSHERON

At 10:00, departure for a full-day excursion combining Azerbaijan’s prehistoric heritage, extraordinary natural phenomena and the legendary Land of Fire.

Our first destination is the Gobustan Historical and Cultural Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Azerbaijan’s most important archaeological landscapes.

Explore the extraordinary collection of ancient petroglyphs, some dating back tens of thousands of years, and discover the prehistoric world through the interactive Gobustan Museum.

We then continue to the Mud Volcanoes Tourist Complex, where guests can learn about the formation and characteristics of these extraordinary geological phenomena and explore exhibitions dedicated to the natural history and fauna of the region.

The journey continues to Absheron, where the ancient traditions of fire worship come to life.

Visit Ateshgah Fire Temple, a historic sanctuary built around a natural source of flame and associated with the ancient fire-worshipping traditions of the region.

Continue to Yanar Dag – the Burning Mountain, one of Azerbaijan’s most remarkable natural phenomena, where natural gas flames emerge continuously from the hillside.

The excursion concludes with an exterior visit to the spectacular Heydar Aliyev Center, designed by world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid. Its flowing white forms create one of Baku’s most recognizable architectural landmarks.

The day also includes a panoramic stop at Highland Park, offering breathtaking views over Baku Bay, the Caspian Sea, the Flame Towers and the city skyline.
